On April 5th a group of ESOL students ventured to the State House to attend MIRA Coalition's Immigrants' Day. We listened to advocates and representatives speak and rallied for funding for Immigration reform including more ESOL classes like the one here at Casserly House. It was such a unique uppourtunity for our students to experiemce!
On Thursday friends gathered at Casserly House to celebrate Easter. We lead prayers, exchanged Easter baskets, and shared favorite memories of past spring seasons and new hopes for the incoming one. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
A big thank you to @CRCBoston for volunteering their time and talents to give Casserly House a new fresh coat of paint in our classrooms! On Sunday March 22nd members of the Charles River Church parish participated in #ServeRozzie day. We are so thankful for all the volunteers who came to help! As always, Casserly is happy to have also connected with a new "dear neighbor" in Roslindale!
Casserly House celebrated our new citizen - Suzette! Suzette passed her citizenship exam and is the newest US citizen at Casserly House! Join us in congratulating her!

The Casserly House kids went ice skating in shorts yesterday in the 70° sunshine! Thanks to the Highland Street Foundation Winter Camp for keeping Frog Pond frozen in the February sun.
Our new friend, Holly stopped by yesterday with Therapy Dogs of Massachusetts to listen to our ASP kids read. Our kids are strong readers and Holly is a great listener!

It’s Christmas at Casserly House! In the morning, we had a delicious pot luck where our ESOL students brought dishes from all the wonderful countries represented at Casserly. Then our After School Program had the annual Christmas Prayer Service where a special guest arrived after we sung carols loud enough for him to hear 🎅🏻 Thank you to everyone who makes this time of year so full of love, joy, and peace for everyone at Casserly House and beyond. BPD Area E5 invited Casserly House to their annual Christmas party on Friday. The night was filled with crafts, clowns, food, and Santa! Thanks, Area E5!
Yesterday was Thanksgiving at Casserly House! First, Area E5 Police Station West Roxbury brought turkey dinners for our students and their families. Then, 8 of our ESOL students attended the MIRA: Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition Our Shared Table Thanksgiving luncheon where we heard testimonials and rallied support for the immigrants that make our country great. And finally, our After School Program had our annual Thanksgiving Prayer Service. We are so grateful for everyone that makes Casserly House the loving place it is. Happy Thanksgiving!
Everyday this week the ASP students wrote down something they like about themselves, and yesterday they went outside and yelled it to the world!

Our friends at Roslindale is for Everyone (RISE) donated some wonderful books to Casserly House. We read the incredible story of a family's journey from Iraq to Norway. So happy to be a part of RISE's Children's Immigration Story Project!
The Boston Police Department Area "E" presented Sister Nancy the Community Service Recognition Award. BPD Deputy Supt Nora Baston and Mayor Marty Walsh presented the award . Several of our after-school students joined Sister Nancy in accepting the award.
