Building confidence through job interview role play!

Learning through role play: a fun restaurant experience!

From July 13 to August 4, our Summer Conversation Club brought together two adult learners’ groups from mixed English proficiency levels in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Sitting in a circle, we got to know each other while practicing everyday English through conversation.

Each week, we discussed topics such as family, health and well-being, food, jobs and community resources, leisure time, and summer plans. We had fun with role-play activities, including ordering at a restaurant, job interviews, giving directions, and making appointments, helping participants build confidence in speaking English.

We were also happy to welcome guests from Jewish Vocational Services (JVS), who introduced their Career Coaching services and training opportunities. Many of our learners showed interest and were excited to register for upcoming programs.

To wrap up the session, we celebrated our summer birthdays. It was a wonderful summer of learning, laughter, and new friendships, and we look forward to seeing everyone again in September as we begin the new school year.
