Make a wish! After blowing out the candle, Sr. Nancy (right) circulated the rooms quickly finding family members of former adult learners and making new friends. Volunteer Instructor, Anne, (left) also celebrated a birthday along with five adult learners!

As Casserly House begins a new year, “new” adult learners and families cross our threshold at 42 Stellman, while praying for the “old” – those who continue with us each week or those who move on (to jobs, further education, or relocation)! Yet, as we do every month, we celebrate birthdays! We celebrate the birthdays of those who gather in our ESOL classes.
This January was special! January is the anniversary month for Casserly House, but it was also a big birthday for Sr. Nancy Braceland, CSJ, co-founder of Casserly House and resident! So, we invited her to our monthly birthday celebrations to honor her too! Blessings of love and gratitude, Sr. Nancy!
Monthly, with adult learners taking the lead and with joyful animation, we sing “Happy Birthday” in English, Haitian Creole, Spanish, and several other languages. Left, one of our adult learners is invited to stand up for his January birthday to be acknowledged.
