On the first day of November, Casserly House staff Lindsay Morrison and Donna Stiglmeier went to Bunker Hill Community College to present at First Literacy’s “Spotlight on Innovation” along with some amazing grantee organizations. Lindsay’s presentation focused on the adult learners’ progress as measured by a new assessment tool, the new curriculum on immigrant neighbor-identified needs (like mental health and work) also developed by a consultant last year, and the Housing Rights Workshop last winter that drew 60 people. Upcoming, we continue to pilot, implement, and share the curriculum with our partner ABCD-Boston in Roslindale.
Donna noted on the panel, “Unexpectedly and gratefully, this seed grant was a springboard for others,” all rooted in the current needs and longstanding strengths of our immigrant neighbors and adult learners. Friends were made with learnings both shared and received.
