We are happy to welcome two new Ignatian Volunteers this year! For years, Casserly House partners with the Ignatian Volunteer Corps to join our staff, expand our capacity, and together, manifest our mission in our Roslindale neighborhood. I asked them to introduce themselves to the Casserly House community via this blog. Here we go…
Tim Wemple: Earlier this summer, I retired from a forty-year career in health care. In my role as a health care executive, I was privileged to serve health care delivery systems in Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, and Chicago/Milwaukee. In each of the organizations, I focused on partnering with physicians, nurses, and other clinical and non-clinical team members to deliver exceptional care and service to our community. I also partnered with our team members to create a great place to work. At Casserly House, it is my privilege to serve as an Ignatian Volunteer Corps member. I look forward to partnering with the Casserly House team to instruct English to our adult learners and support projects and the Casserly House neighborhood. I have many outside interests but a favorite is spending time with my wife, our three adult married children, and our three grandchildren. I am excited about the upcoming year!
Marnie Reynolds: I am excited about my new IVC assignment at Casserly House as an ESOL instructor along with a variety of supportive roles. The first week was terrific! I come to Casserly House as a member of the Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC), which I joined in 2023. A graduate of Newton Country Day School, Boston College, and New Academy for Art Studies, I moved to NYC in 1981 and never expected to remain in NYC and Connecticut for 40+ years! Now, after retiring in summer 2023 from Bank of New York Mellon as a trust officer, I returned to the Boston area where I grew up. My daughter, son-in-law and new granddaughter live close by along with extended family. I also work part-time at Brimmer & May School in Chestnut Hill.
Last year, Ignatian Volunteers John, Sheila, and Mary Beth wrapped up their IVC relationship with Casserly House. Big thanks to them, and especially Mary Beth and Sheila who were with Casserly House for years as IVs – through multiple directors, COVID, shifts in mission expression, and companioning our neighbors – adults and children alike. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!
Volunteers keep our CSJ mission at Casserly House alive and thriving! Complementing our Ignatian Volunteers, a group of weekly volunteer instructors began ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes September 9th and 10th. We are off to a great start!
