Recently, Casserly House was awarded a second year of funding to hone lessons on social determinants of health (work, housing, wellbeing) and other lessons that are Roslindale-specific (for example, transportation) and integrate them into our new curriculum for our adult learners in our English for Speakers of Other Languages classes. These lessons, drafted with last year’s grant, will be shared with our Roslindale partner ABCD Boston. Also, an assessment tool was created grouping learners into levels and charting progress while our volunteer instructors were trained.
Thanks to First Literacy for catalyzing these improvements! Thanks to the many other partners and generous contributors that help make the Sisters of Saint Joseph ministry at Casserly House possible for our immigrant neighbors in Roslindale.
