We will be starting a Thursday star of the week, where we feature a member of the Casserly community doing remarkable things! This week’s star(s) go to Sheila and Ollie. We already know reading dogs are a big hit at Casserly House After School, so Sheila, one of our devoted Ignatian Volunteers, decided to employ Ollie’s furry talents during her daily Zoom tutoring sessions!
Sheila is one of many volunteers who have offered their time, patience, and knowledge to lead online homework help sessions for After School students over Zoom. She came up with the “math for treats” idea wherein every time a student gets a math problem correct, Ollie gets a treat! Safe to say it is a win-win situation for everyone involved. We are grateful for Sheila’s compassion and creativity in assisting each student. She truly embodies the charism of caring for ‘the Dear Neighbor’ and leads with the well-being of every child in mind. We hope Ollie enjoys the extra treats, also! Keep up the (p)awesome work!
