Casserly House Receives Highland Street Foundation Grant
The Highland Street Foundation has awarded Casserly House a fifth consecutive annual grant. The announcement letter cited that Mayor Menino is supportive of Highland Street’s continued commitment to Casserly House. Noreen McMahon, Senior Director of Programs at Highland Street Foundation, recently visited with our adult students to “present” the check and hear some of their immigrant stories.

Casserly House Receives Two Significant Grants
During December 2011, Casserly House was awarded two significant grants. The first was a new grant from the Imago Dei Fund, a private foundation in Boston http://www.imagodeifund.org/index.html. The funds will be utilized to address health-related needs for poor immigrant women and children who live in the neighborhood. The project will help educate people about their bodies, its functions, basic health and medical care, and health/safety related issues.
The second grant was received from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office Asset Forfeiture Reinvestment Program. The source of the grant is seized drug money that gets put back into the community for good purposes. The funds will be utilized to sustain our preventative after-school and summer camp programs for at-risk neighborhood children. This was the third consecutive annual grant we received from this program, a testimony that Dan Conley’s office recognizes the vital role Casserly House plays in the neighborhood.
